Notice to all clients,
After careful consideration we regret to inform all our clients that on November 5, 2019 DevFX will be shutting down all our dedicated servers which includes the discontinuation of cPanel based webhosting and email services.
Unfortunately the cost to maintain these servers and their licenses which has increased in cost dramatically over the past six months is no-longer sustainable for us. The increase in these costs is not something we wish to pass onto our clients, as in many cases it would more than double the cost of your current hosting service with us.
This does not affect clients that use our managed services, cloud based servers, domain management, SSL services and any custom services and applications that are managed and or hosted on private servers or custom solutions provided by DevFX.
What does this mean?
If you host a website or use email hosted through cPanel on one of our dedicated servers those services will end on November 5, 2019.
Over the course of the next several weeks we will be preparing for the shutdown by moving our main domain https://developfx.com to a cloud based server. Please note at this time we are not sure if we will continue the use of the developfx.com domain or use another domain name moving forward. Either way this will provide continued client support after all dedicated servers are shut-down where clients can continue accessing their accounts in order to manage their billing and past invoices, domains and DNS records, SSL’s and any other services we currently provide.
We will most likely continue use of the developfx.com domain but if for any reason we decide to use a different domain for our client management moving forward we will update all clients with that domain name and URL. Otherwise please keep using https://developfx.com to access your client account.
We will work with all our clients to make sure your account is transferred at no charge from us to custom solution of your needs or to a hosting provider of your choice.
All current and active affected cPanel webhosting and email accounts have been updated so any future billing is set to $0.00 and will not go into a suspended state if any future billing for hosting is unpaid. Meaning all affected accounts from this point forward will remain active regardless of billing so you may backup, download and or transfer your files, emails, etc. until our dedicated servers go offline.
Any client accounts that pay on an annual billing cycle will be issued credit which can then be refunded for the remaining balance of service. (Annual cost divided by 12 months multiplied by the number of remaining months of your service.) All refunds will be processed in the next 30 to 90 days.
We have already cancelled each affected clients subscription who are using a PayPal subscription that reoccur monthly. However we highly recommend you double check and verify the subscription has been cancelled through your own PayPal account. If for any reason you still see an active subscription status please cancel it and contact our support department to let us know in the event your account was over looked on our end.
For clients who have their domain hosted with another registrar but directed to our “Nameservers” ns1.developfx.com and ns2.developfx.com nameservers - Will need to either have the domains DNS records set back to the registrars default nameservers or to new nameservers where your new webhosting and or email will be active.
For affected webhosting clients who have their domain(s) registered with us have the option to transfer your domain name to another provider or keep it here with us as we will continue to offer domain sales and services. If you keep your domain with us your nameservers will need to be directed to your new hosting service provider when that is setup. If you have a domain that is currently parked (purchased but not used to host a website or has a redirect placed on it) will remain as it is unaffected unless transferred to another registrar.
DevFX does not have any fees for transferring a domain from us to another provider, however many providers do have a transfer cost which is usually just the purchase of an additional year of domain ownership which should be added to your domains registration time extending the next renewal date.

Any clients we do not hear from we will attempt contacting you directly over the course of the next several weeks. We don’t want anyone blindsided when the servers go offline.
On a personal note I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause knowing how frustrating switching from one web host to another can be. We will do our very best to make sure the process is as painless as possible.
Many of you have been with us for a great number of years and we truly hope the time you’ve been with us has been a valued experience.
Unfortunately, the sad truth is we have been losing an excessive amount of money by keeping these servers active for as long as we have. Initially we planned to move our hosting accounts to a scalable cloud solution to get costs back down however even those expenses combined with the recent increase in cPanel license cost make that impossible and unmanageable at this time.
At this time the only webhosting and email service options we can provide would be custom managed services, specifically tailored to your needs.
